Flames Depth

Flames Current Depth

I wanted to take a quick look at the Flames current contracted players and the possible depth chart. I understand moves will likely still be made and this can change, so this is my take of the roster today;

Couple interesting things I noticed is we have 7 players capable of playing center with 1 way deals (incl. Kosto) Morrison although he says he should be ready for the start of the year, Feaster feels the opposite. I suspect the Flames to carry 2 extra forwards if this stays the same (Morrison & Leblond) with the next call up likely being Byron. Next thing, I only see 3 right handed d-men out of the 14 listed (Sarich, Babchuk & Carson) and due to that I put Carson in my top 6, with Smith being the extra defenseman they will carry. Early prediction but with all the added depth I wanted to check it out.

(*) Player on a two way contract
(**) LTIR player: Unlikely to be ready opening day

Forwards:

Tanguay Langkow Iginla
Glencross Jokinen Bourque
Backlund* Morrison** Moss
Jackman Stajan Kostopoulos
Hagman Leblond Ivanans**
Byron* Nemisz* Bouma*
Desbiens* Meyer* Howse*

Defence:
Bouwmeester Sarich
Giordano Carson
Butler Babchuk
Brodie* Smith*
Mikkelson* Henry*
Breen* Wilson*
Negrin* Piskula*

Goaltending:
Kiprusoff Karlsson
Irving* Ortio*
Lamoureux

Round up: Hagman remains hot in trade rumors; again I do not see much value coming back in return but looking at the depth chart he may want to go somewhere else. Feaster on Tuesday stated it will likely remain quiet until camps open, but he will keep his eye on arbitration hearings to see if anything opens up. I still would like to see a better top 6 forward crew, but I think we will have to rely on a healthy BMo to fill in when Glencross and Bourque are cold.
