Calgary Flames Sign David Wolf

Flames sign David Wolf
One year two way deal $925,000

Wolf who has been on Brian Burke's radar since Burke was with Toronto, was rumored to have signed with the Flames earlier during the season. Back then Roger Millions from Sportsnet broke the story as the Hamburg Freezers had announced that Wolf would leave the club for Calgary.

David Wolf is a big body (6'2" 216 lbs) who is not afraid to get his hands dirty. In his last 143 games in the DEL German League, Wolf has registered 415 PIMS for the Hamburg Freezers.

The additions of Van Brabant and now Wolf will likely see Westgarth not get resigned by the Flames. Burke and Treliving continue to stress that the team needs to get tougher and bigger. This signing follows that message. It will be interesting to see if Wolf can crack an NHL line up; he had to ability to register some points while in Germany, but we know the NHL is a step or two up.

Wolf is a big winger who likes to play a physical game. Has alright speed and hands for his size.
